Slow Time, a series of videos and a proposal for a video-installation, was created collaboratively with Huy Vu in 2008. Slow Time is a response to our concern that in the hurried pace of modern life an intrinsic bond between the natural world and ourselves has been forgotten.
Through a series of dream-like videos depicting the three main areas of our landscape (sky, land, sea) Slow Time aspires to remind people that the natural world does more than supply people with material resources. It nourishes imagination, rekindles creativity and reminds us that we are tiny parts of a greater ecosystem. Slow Time is intended to reinstill a child-like wonder for the natural world.
We propose a series of video installations in elevators. Passengers would be transported to an unexpected landscape by means of videos which play on the floor, ceiling and doors in correspondence with the navigation of the elevator. Our hope is that visually shifting perspectives and bringing the outside inside might remind the viewer of the remarkable nature of the world.
